Mother of 2 sons, Alec 16 and Evan 14, and spend a great deal of time raising them and enjoying them while running DIRT FITNESS.  My passion for fitness began in my childhood with strong gymnastic and sport skills.  Fitness and the concept of constantly challenging myself physically is somewhat innate.

My personal philosophy regarding fitness is to train the body to strengthen your ADL’s (Activities of Daily Life).  I am a firm believer in using your own body weight in a multi-plane of movement.  Core strength is truly the most important aspect to a strong and healthy body.  The “mirror muscles” will follow but it all needs to start from within.

I don’t believe that exercise should stand alone, and any program that only focuses on getting you “in and out” of the gym is not productive.  True fitness consciousness needs to stem from a program such as DIRT FITNESS, which promotes an supports a lifestyle of fitness, health, and wellness.

Growing up a native of South Florida, Shannon took advantage of the year round active lifestyle. Shannon was in competitive gymnastics for over 10 years earning her a spot on the University of Mississippi competitive cheerleading squad. After returning home from college Shannon practiced for over 10 years in the physical therapy field and as a athletic trainer at Deerfield Beach High School. Over the past 8 years Shannon has raised her 3 daughters, Shanus (8), Maggie (6), Chelsea (2) as a stay at home Mother while continuing to teach Pilates and work in personal training. In Shannon’s free time she enjoys spending time with her family at the beach, swimming, snorkeling, and paddle board surfing.

Shannon’s love for competition is a strong as ever since she found DIRT FITNESS.  In her last two obstacle races Shannon finished in the top 10 in her age group and top 50 overall. Shannon says, “I believe without challenging your mind and body you will never realize your full potential.”  Challenging your body allows you to become stronger physically and mentally. “Exercise should become a habit in your daily routine just like brushing your teeth.”

The reason I love DIRT FITNESS is not only because it is competitive and challenging, but also the anticipation of each work out that still gives me butterflies.  DIRT FITNESS makes me work harder, faster and to be more efficient with my movement.  That is why DRIT FITNESS works!  So mix it up and have fun with it.

 

Heather Lorenzo

Heather was born and raised in South Florida. Ever since she was a kid she struggled with her weight. A combination of poor diet and lack of exercise put her in a very unhealthy state for a young girl. At the age of 16 she met her now husband Jimmy. After 4 years of being together Jimmy began hitting the gym everyday. His results were incredible and this is where it all began for Heather. She completely transformed her life. Healthy eating and exercise became second nature. After losing close to 60lbs fitness and motivating others became her passion. Heather has studied at the Fitness Institute, is ACT Certified and is currently working toward her bachelor degree in exercise science.
